Hi BritDee and everyone!
I am SO glad to be chatting about New Moon and the sweet Rob himself. I have just completed reading Twilight again and will probably begin to read New Moon today. I am debating whether I should begin at the beginning, I don’t know if I will be able to go through all of the anguish and heartache again during Edward’s absence. Knowingly..that’s a bit crazy..who knows..
I obviously am looking forward to the completion of New Moon. But, as I know very little as to the making of movies, my concern is about how long they are taking to complete the movie. And also for Eclipse? How long does it take to put together a movie? Have the movie completely ready for viewing within 8 or so months? Could it be becasue they will have a lot of special effects? I have no idea..
I have a question about the supposed casting of Heidi. I really thought that the role would be for AnnaLynne McCord. Who is that model? I think that AnnaLynne truly fits the part better..Does the model have any experience? Maybe there’s another reason(s) why AnnaLynne is unable to take the role..
I think the actors who will be playing the wolf pack are perfect. I think they all are beautifull people. I’ve always thought that Native-Americans are truly beautifull people. Their features are stunning.
I am so tired about seeing all of the ” ” about Rob. Now, as soon as I see it, I don’t even read it. Actually, sometimes I do glance through it, but then I say to myself, “You have got to be kidding..” Knowing of Rob’s personality, and from what I have directly heard from him, as in the commentary, I hope, and I am pretty sure that he will be okay, that he will not stress himself out and slip out of things. AND, I also hope that he doesn’t rely too much on the cigarettes to deal with the stress..Boy, he does take beautifull pictures that’s for sure..(!)
One thing that I am debating in a way..I have heard about that fact that Rob is or was talking with someone about the possibility of a romantic movie, for involvement after or during the completion of Stehenie’s movies. I’m not sure that I will be able to see him in anything like that..I know that if I like his acting then I should..but, dumb thing is..I would think that he would be..cheating on Bella..I know..I know..extremely dumb to think..I guess that is called type-casting?? Obviously, chances are pretty good that Rob will be acting post-Breaking Dawn but..as of right now..it’s very difficult for me to see him in anythign else..Although..I could probably see, “Little Ashes..” and any of his other movies pre-Breaking Dawn..Who knows..
Fairly recently, it has come to my attention that Jacob wears a wig. In the beginning, it didn’t really make a difference to me. But now, I kind of thik it looks like too much of a wig..I would much prefer his regular hair. Yu know, I give Taylor a lot of credit. In every picture I see of him, candid or not, he really looks like he is enjoying himself. Not that the other actors don’t but, considering his age. And I give his father a lot of credit. His father is always on the set. I know it is by law, but, it really seems like Talyor comes from a tight family. Is he originally from Canada? Periodically, I can hear a Canadian accent. I do think that Taylor is a nice and cute actor.
I hope that Kristen will be able to truly stick with the “personality” of the Bella from the book, I think that there was some sort of a difference, can’t quite put my finger on it though, but I’m sure that she will be able to do a great job. She actually will be carrying the movie with Taylor, I believe, and that is a heavy job, but I am sure they will be able to do it, during Edward’s absence.
Laura
A lot has been debated with respect to how much of Edward vs. Jacob should be in the movie, that is a good one. Hurt as it may, I think that Edward himself should be in it only in the beginning and towards the end. Do I like saying that? No way. Would I prefer to see him all of the time? You better believe it. But, this is what New Moon is about. Hurt and pain. I hope that there won’t be a horrific amount of hurt and pain, but, it’s the book. One thing, I think that the bell scene should be dynamic. We should feel with Bella as she is running and trying to get through the people and BANG right into Edward. We should feel that! Something should go off in Edwards eyes, a lightbulb, or something, that it’s Bella! Something powerfull. Edward’s STRONG and this should be felt by all. Also, the end of New Moon should be all for reuniting Edward and Bella, and their closeness.

Laura and all,
I agree I’m so glad to have a place to talk about New Moon without all the other gossip involved.
I just had few comments on your posting.
The first time I read New Moon I read it so fast because I wanted to get back to Edward that when I read it the second time I missed so much about Jacob. By the end I was able to really understand Jacob and why he was important. so take your time and enjoy Stephaine’s writting and I think you will enjoy it too
I can’t even tell you how sickening it is to read all the “rags” as Britdee puts with Rob’s face on it. All the rumors have to be overwhelming for sure.
You mentioned Kristen and being able to hold her own in New Moon, and I was curious about that too. I got the impression that Bella in the book was happier than protrayed in the movie. In the movie she seemed to always be sad looking but she was suppose to be happy or even excited to see Edward which I really didn’t see. I don’t think Kristen is a bad actress. Britdee maybe this is something you could answer for me. Was Kristen directed to act more subdued/sad or do you think that is just how she is as an actor?

Hi, Everyone! Good comments and as usual a lot for me to ponder. Initially, I will tackle “migirl252002″‘s point about Kristen and – after some thought – I’ll come back and go over Laura’s discussion.
If you have seen other movies with Kristen, you will know that she has a limited range, which is kind of sulky and not very exciting. I think that’s her style. I rarely see her smile in real life unless it’s in front of the photographers for a premier shot. The directing of Twilight, when compared to other movies – including those done by Chris Weitz – seems to ME now rather amateurish. The teens and Kristen in Twilight are outrageously awkward and – can’t think of another word – amateurish. The Cullens, however, and Billy Burke (Bella’s dad) are spot on, as they say in Britain.
You’re right that Bella in the book is happier and much more in love – visibly – with Edward than Bella in the movie. I don’t know what choices were made, by the director and by the actor. But I’ll tell you what my impression is based on what she has said to the media: Kristen did not seem to do her homework on Bella the way Rob did his two-month hibernation to study Edward. I think it’s fairly obvious in the movie.
What do you guys think?

migirl252002
Britdee,
Didn’t the director hand pick Kristen? Do you think she might have been bias?
Thanks for your response. I think that does make a lot of sense about Kristen if she didn’t do her homework on Bella like Rob did for Edward she would not get the character. When I seen the movie I thought she physically looked like Bella but didn’t act like she would. I agree I felt the movie was amateurish and some of the acting was off. I felt like the classmates were not like the book at all. Like when I seen Eric I laughed. Really an Asian? Just didn’t see it. (I’m Asian so maybe I’m just bias
I have to admit that when I first seen Rob I didn’t think he was that great as Edward, but as the movie went on he grew on me and I got him. I got the reason why he acted the way he did but I just couldn’t get it with Kristen.
Do you know why the blood testing scene was left out? I thought that was a turning point for Bella and Edward.
How much say does an author have in the story line of a movie? I mean they sell the rights to the book per say but do they get a say in the movie?

Hi BritDee & Everyone!
I’ve been following along over on Amazon & am happy to be here to talk New Moon. Just a quick question. Now that filming has started what is the big secret about the Volturi casting? Is it just marketing to keep us listening or something else?
April 11, 2009 at 5:19 am
BritDee
Hi, Elvam, and welcome. I don’t know for sure what the story is behind the Volturi but I can tell you that during the filming of Twilight, there was only one opportunity for the press to go in one day and get details. Very little was disclosed during the filming. The suspense was not as huge as it is for the filming of New Moon because Twilight was such a blockbuster that it has made everyone anticipate the sequel with much more fervor.
I don’t think it’s marketing per se. I think it’s “artistic privacy”, meaning that the director wants to film without the media and public breathing down his neck. He wants the freedom and peace to let his actors and his direction work without the intrusion that is so prevalent these days with all the technology at hand.
I hope that more or less answers your query!
Welcome to my blog!

Hi Everyone,
I have comlpeted re-reading New Moon and again, truly loved it. This time, I chose to delebrately skip over the beginning, and also through Jacob. I seem to recall that during the first time I read it, I began to get SO frustrated at how long the pages continued and continued about Jacob and the past. I did read it, but was eager for it to be over. I did read about the times when both Bella and Jacob were together, but I’ll admit, I didn’t read about the stories given by Billy and the tribe due to my frustration. Now, as I look back on it, it was pretty funny. I kept saying aloud and also pretty loudly, “COME ON!! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!” Initially, I was concerned that if I re-read any of the books, the specialness of it all would fade. Boy, was I wrong. Every time that I re-read them (I make sure I space my readings out, and I don’t want to re-read them THAT much..so as to be able to recite them verbatum..that I think is too much..), I always find something(s) new that I love. I have found that I especially love and feel for Edward and also for Bella when they are in Italy, and are confronted by Jane. It pains me for Edward. Actually, I feel for him any time that he is in any kind of pain. Practically every other line during that scene I’m saying aloud, “Yay! You cannot harm Bella!! Edward now knows!! She has SOMETHING about her!! She’s a shield!!” I just wish that Bella was aloud to put herself by Edward so as to protect him, Alice didn’t know.. Then maybe Edward wouldn’t have been out through the pain. That was just one of the scenes that I love of Edward and Bella, it is unfortunate that pain is involved but, I love how they try and protect one another.
I also believe in Kristen. I don’t think that she is a bad actor. I wish that she had spent more time on preparation, hopefully she will do so for the other movies. I can definately see it in Rob’s perfoemance throughout the movie. I can just imagine that he will get even better and better. There were bits and pieces of the movie where I thought Kristen was better, but overall, I thought the book Bella was preferred. I could completely see and feel how so very excited the Bella, from the book, felt about Edward and I hope it comes through in the movie from now on.
As far as the other actors, first, Billy is so right on! I thought he portrayed it perfectly. For example, I have read some didn’t like the “gun scene” but, I thought that it was so funny. I also felt his pain when Bella left him, because of his acting being so believable. Another funny scene when Bella came into the kitchen and it looked like she was going to say something and Billy just said, “oookkayyy..” That was completely believable.
I also enjoy the Cullens. Jasper and Emmett are tied for my 2nd favorites. Emmett for his humor, some now, and more later in the books. And Jasper for his caring about Bella and for the others.
Comparing the Cullens to Bellas HS friends, I do prefer their acting and also actually how they carried themselves on screen and also in print. There is quite a difference between the two “groups.”
Funny the Volturi should be mentioned. I was curious as to the casting of them. I really haven’t scene anything about them, and that it vertainly fine with me. I am seeing that Chris W. is definately not Catherine. Just by knowing what has been seen and what hasn’t been seen, this movie will be so..top of the line as compared to the prior. I believe in the complete privacy of the production. I look forward to the suspense, and don’t mind not being able to see everyone from the cast all of the time, or at all. It will all make the film that much better! Laura

Hello Everyone,
Thanks BritDee for the info. I understand & respect the artistic privacy thing. I’ve watched some of the coverage from Vancouver & kind of feel sorry for them. I understand the desire to be there & star gaze, I’m also as hungry as anyone for the movie but I’d much rather the filming crew, director & actors were left alone to do their jobs without having to think about how big a crowd will be waiting for them at the filming sight that day. Believe me, I live a short 3 hour drive from where they are & it’s been very tempting but I’d rather they be left to do their jobs. I want to see a great movie.
That being said it was nice to see some of the photos from the set this week. They looked like they were having fun & were relaxed. I have high hopes for Mr.Weitz’s ability to bring out a great movie. I had little problem with the actors in Twilight. I live with “outrageously awkward teens” and I agree about the Cullens and Billy Burke being “spot on”. Kristen was the biggest exception because in some scenes I just didn’t get what she was trying to portray or what she was doing was just off the mark. I don’t know. I had not read the books and did after the movie because I left the movie feeling like there had to be more to the story… boy was there. =-) I’m hoping with the new director & with Kristen having had Lots more time to get to know her character that the movie Bella will be more like the book Bella.
As far as the Volturi casting, I was just as curious about the “Wolf pack” & once they announced it, I thought “Great job!” & let it go. I guess not everyone would do that though.
So this is the first time I’ve followed the “making of a movie” & I’ve never really paid any attention to how far in advance the trailers come out in theaters before a movie is released. November seems a long way off so any ideas about when can we expect to see the trailers in theaters?
Thanks again BritDee!
April 11, 2009 at 6:34 pm
BritDee
Hi! trailers – I’m going to guess because I don’t know for sure but I would say around May. Right around the time that Cannes opens. I say that because – after the Oscars – Cannes is like the big movie industry get together worldwide. And, since Twilight proved that it was BIG worldwide, then a glimpse of a trailer might be ready by then. I could be way off so forgive me if I’m dead wrong.

Hi Everyone,
I totaly agree with you, elvam, regarding privacy and the completion of the movie. Just think of how much “more”‘ it would be without all of the distractions for the cast and crew. I’m sure that they all are able to block everything and everyone out anyway to produce perfection, but, privacy would be better. SIlly as this may sound, I am so glad that there have been “umbrellas,” and “big guys” protecting the cast and Rob, because to me, any kind of picture may potentially draw awya from the absolute product. BUT, that’s not to say that I haven’t taken a lookat the site at the pictures, BUT (again), I am very picky when it comes to which I view. This is why I haven’t and don’t plan on reading ANY of MS until it is completely finished and published, hard as it is..AND, I don’t plan on viewing any of the trailers of New Moon, because I want to be completely surprised in November. Again, hard as it will be.. Laura

Hi BritDee,
What do you think of the “casting” of Aro. Michael Sheen, from “Underworld” was “aggresively casted” by Chris W. IF this is true, what do you think? I saw both “Underworld” movies, and thought that he did a great job as Lucien. Actually, he was my favorite character in the movies. Funny thing is, he played a warewolf, and not a vampire. His character REALLY fought against the vampires. Actually, the actor who played he head vampire, now that I think of it, would be a great choice also for Aro.. My only concern is, I believe that he is a pretty big actor, with a big price, and I just wouldn’t want big actors to be cast and overshadow the other cast members and the movie as a whole. Not only that, while I certainly welcome any kind of success for New Moon, I wouldn’t want it to become this HUGE movie, and loose it’s “quaintness” as a “great small movie.” I hope that made sense. I hope it will remain a “huge but small movie.” AND, above all, I wouldn’t want Rob to be overshadowed, since he is, if not one of, the most popular actors of the entire Saga. Regardless of his “time” on screen. I hope that Chris W. will be able to bring to screen what is needed for New Moon to become what it deserves, while maintaining its overall effect. Laura

Hi, Laura! I hope you had a happy Easter weekend.
I posted on chez amazon for the first time in like 3 weeks. This is my comment about Michael Sheen: fantabulous! Michael is one of the premiere British actors of today. He played Prime Minister Tony Blair in the award-winning The Queen, starring Helen Mirren. And, he’s very handsome. He’s got those big blue eyes that will make Aro absolutely daunting! I’m very excited with the selection because it will add weight to a very light-weight inexperienced cast. I think Chris Weitz is a genius, all the decisions he has been making are truly fabulous and it just makes me feel very good about New Moon. I think everyone in the production has realized that New Moon has to do as well or better than Twilight and by that I mean not only box office but the caliber of acting, which was rather amateurish in Twilight. So, I think Michael Sheen and Dakota Fanning will add a very serious note to the acting level and I just hope it ups the acting of everyone else.
So, to sum it up, Laura, Michael Sheen is definitely a very good choice for Aro!
Cheers!

Just wanted to say Happy Monday. Was spending my lunch hour catching up on reading on my favorite subject – the twilight series.
I have a lot of thoughts on New Moon, which I just finished reading (no this was not my first time through the book. Let’s just say I have read it more than once, but less than 10 times), but I need to get back to working – so more later.

Hi there everyone!
I’m very excited to see Michael Sheen as Aro! I’d seen him in The Queen but just last week my family talked me into seeing the Underworld movies & I loved him in it. He will be great & with a few more experienced actors on set the younger actors may rise to challenge. YES! This is going to be great!
Aro may be only on screen a short time but his presence carries through the rest of the movie & the next 2. As head of the Volturi it’s the fear of Aro that makes the difference in so much of the rest of the books. I think Michael will have no trouble pulling off both the charming face of Aro & the threat that he becomes to all the Cullen family.
My confidence in Chris W. is constantly growing!

Hi elvam,
Yes, I think the best movie to see Michael Sheen is Underworld. Granted, this is the only movie that I’ve seen him in but, I think that everyone should see Underworld in order to envision him as Aro. Also, I do give Chris W. a lot of credit as he is making his way though the movie, he does seem ot be very private and professional about the making of the movie, and doesn’t seem to be talking publically about it at all. I think this is how it should be. Laura

Hi, Everyone. Laura, I disagree with you – this time only
. In order to truly capture Michael’s superb acting talent, everyone should see The Queen. Because as the leader of Britain, Michael gives us a glimpse of how he will portray the leader of the Volturi. As Aro, Michael will be superb. Forget the Underworld for now. And, yes, kudos to Chris Weitz, but I knew that all along
if you remember my original and first entry in the chez amazon blog, which is now populated by people who are not necessarily following the original intent of my first entry
.
Cheers! BritDee

Hey BritDee,
Oh sure! I’m sure that Michael’s superb talent can be seen in many movies, I was just speaking of the acting that was done in Underworld, as he had the “warewolf/vampire” theme going..I actually neer heard of The Queen! If he was portraying a leader, then he would absolutely be displaying his “leader abilities” as the leader of the Volturi. That’s great!
I think that people over at Chez Amazon maybe a little worried with anything that follows Twilight (perhaps myself included..but not as much as some..) but, I think that it’s somewhat difficult, at times, to just trust in someone or something..I guess it all has to do with letting go of all worries and concerns and just letting everything be as they should be. BritDee,
There has been some rumors that New Moon and Eclipse are going to be flimed together. Can you clear this up for us?
Thanks
April 16, 2009 at 7:05 pm
BritDee
Morning! and, thanks for coming to my blog! from the very beginning, it was said by the studio that New Moon and Eclipse would be filmed “back-to-back”. This reduces costs and is invaluable for the two stories that have so many connections.
Summit announced yesterday that principal photography has begun on New Moon. That means rehearsals, fittings and pre-production are over and the actors are going to be filming very long hours to get the movie in the can (old terminology).
For a complete list of the cast of New Moon, please go to http://www.summit-ent.com and click on the “news” tab.
It’s very exciting because pretty soon we will have an EPK (electronic press kit) with real reel and my guess is that by the time Cannes opens, we will have a sneak peek trailer.
Cheers!

Hello,
I was away from the computer for a couple days & all kinds of info. has come out! I’m thrilled with the new cast listing. Although I’m not familiar with all the actors chosen, I think for the most part their looks will work. The actors I do recognize I think will be able to pull off their parts so I’m hoping the unknowns will also. Now I feel like can breathe, is that silly? I can’t wait to see Chris Weise’s vision for New Moon on screen! I’m looking forward to those sneak peeks! November can’t come soon enough!

Hi there BritDee
Ok time for a question! What do you think of Summit hiring David Slade to direct Eclipse? Are you familiar with his work? I have not seen the 2 movies they have listed under his directorship so I’m feeling a little blind here. Both movies listed look like they are definitely under the horror category. I know Eclipse has some major battle scenes & they need to be directed well but the story is not so much about them as it is still about the love triangle going on between our main 3 characters. Eclipse could easily be taken down the road to horror if the choice to do so was made but I’ve never felt any of the books were meant to go there. Yes, there are vampires & yes, there is violence but not in the same realm as the horror films these days.
Also both movies listed under David Slade’s directorship are rated “R”. Do you think he will direct the battle scenes with the PG-13 rating in mind or do you think the studio has decided to let it go “R”. (I hope not.) The only real piece of mind I’m getting right now is that Stephenie Meyer is supposed to have talked to him & be happy with the choice. If she thinks he can get her book onto film then maybe I’ll just try & relax & wait to see how it all works out. Like I have a choice. =-)
So this is a long way of asking what do you think?

Ok, I’ve been corrected. My husband has seen Hard Candy & he said it was a drama not horror.

Hi BritDee (and everyone!),
I am stumped..So yes, I am still over at Chez Amazon and at other places as well. I’ve been reading for the most part, and blogging every so often. Sometimes, I politely remind them not to include other website’s URL’s, and not to repeatedly answer the same questions, by the same people, even if they are begging. I always remind them to check for prior posts. I mention that the longer the blog, the more difficult it would be to find your postings. I also have mentioned, politely, that I myself, am now-a-days, more conservative with my googling all of the time. That it is okay to google, but for it to go on and on well, I think that it would be better not quite to do it on and on and on..I am stumped because people just don’t get what I am saying, and also they mis-read what I saying. I thought, “Oh, good grief..” I give up.. Well, just thought I’d let you know..thanks or listening..Laura

Hi Laura,
Don’t worry about it. I read along over there too & they can get off topic. It was my understanding that we were to be talking about ideas for & about the movie. Sometimes they can lose sight of that. I really do enjoy the exchange of ideas & information when they are on topic & it’s accurate. I’m sure I know who you are talking about when you say they beg for information that’s already been given… she has been asked several times by several people not to do it & I don’t think she understands. Most of the time I just skip over her spots now.
Hope you had a good evening.ElvaM
So has anyone any info. on the new director for Eclipse? I was just beginning to relax & really look forward to New Moon & Now they’ve got me wondering about the next movie already.

Hi Elvam,
Thanks for the input! Yes, at times, they do get off topic from what the original purpose. It is during those times that, in addition to the pages of the same topic, and me being misrepresented, that I get a bit frazzeled..For me personally, it means a lot to me when people think otherwise of me and of what I’m trying to helpfully say. I do block a couple of people, becasue all I want is to be there for enjoyment. Well, I think that I will give it a little bit before I return..
As far as Eclipse is concerned, the new Directors name is David Slade..I think I saw a little bit of information on him, but I don’t remember where..I know! We have New Moon on our minds and they are talking Eclipse (and a wee bit of Breaking Dawn..) I still hope that it not all being too rushed, and I don’t know..somehow I think that the movies should be more spaced out..I wouldn’t mind..And, perish the thought..but..I wouldn’t want it all to be made all at once and then one day..”poof..” they have completed all of the movies..I know, sounds silly..I do look forward to New Moon tho’.
Right now, I am thinking New Moon, while re-reading Breaking Dawn..Don’t forget to keep an eye on ET Friday-Sunday.. Have a great day! Laura

Hi, Everyone! I am on a tight deadline (submission Monday!) so I can’t visit for long but please check out the new page on Eclipse right here. You can place your comments and questions there and I’ll get on them next week!
Fingers crossed that my project gets accepted!
I don’t know much about David Slade but there’s lots of info coming to this blog – just check the Eclipse page!

Hi BritDee,
Hope everything went well with your current deadline..I’m sure that everything did go well.
I am pretty much convinced as to the existance of imposters over at Twitter. The more and more that everything sinks in, the more that I doubt that the individuals who I have as “favorites” ( aside from you and maybe 2 from TW ) are actualy who they say that they are. I noticed that we have at least one of the same “persons” from TW. I really doubt that it is real. I will probably be deleating this favorite soon. And this is unfortunate. Some of the tweets just don’t seem to be what this person would say at all..Also, on KS area, the person who is an imposter, makes reference to “her” myspace area, which documents information about her personal life, which is blatantly incorrect, due to actual pictures from the NM website. I almost want to blog something to the myspace and to the other imposters and call them on their irroneous information. Isn’t that sad that people would stoop to that level? I doubt that I will pop any fans bubbles, so I will probably not be calling anyone to their information. Why make anyone sad if they are in the beliefs that all the information is valid? I don’t see the point. I never really tweeted anything vital, only brief congratulatory entries.. Anyway.. Laura

Hi everyone! Laura, you were talking back in April about not wanting to re-read the books too close together. I knew exactly what you meant. I was trying not to do that, too, then I bought them on CD. I have all of the audiobooks, including The Host. I’ve loaded them onto my computer and I can listen to them as often as I want. It’s wonderful!!!! When I walk, I upload them onto my mp3 player and listen while I’m walking. My daughter absolutely hates to read, so she listens to my CDs. Someone on the Amazon site once said that it opened up a whole new experience for her. She was correct. It’s amazing! I may never “read” the books again!

Hey Sandy!
Great to hear from you! You know, it’s funny, recently, about maybe a month ago, I started re-reading the series. I loved it as if it was the first time. I was about mid-way through BD, that I just stopped. The book is still exactly where I put it the last time I read it..The question is why? I have no idea. I doubt it has anything to do with the content..who knows..Maybe I am spacing it..? I will probably head back to Twilight sometime soon! Anyway..that’s great to hear about the books on Audio! Do the voices throw you off? I think I heard one one time, and was thrown off by a different voice other than Kristen’s..That’s a super idea though! Laura

BritDee,
I read over at Newmoonmovie.org, that the whole cast was at a party this week, to celebrate the completion of the movie..”a wrap party.” Do you have any idea as to whether it has been completed? If so, wow, that sure was fast..Laura
May 12, 2009 at 9:49 pm
BritDee
Hi, Laura. Good question. I saw that and it seems rather odd. Principal photography began April 15, which means they completed the film in less than a month? it would make sense because there’s a lot of cgi involved but I’m not sure they’ve done the filming in Italy. Summit hasn’t made an announcement either so I would say that the wrap may be premature. There’s so much ridiculous gossip, I disagree with most of it.
Rob was in LA this weekend, meeting with a director and doing a screen test with an actor for his upcoming movie, Remember Me. Since he returned to Vancouver right away, and since David Slade was hired so recently, not giving him a lot of time to prepare, then I would say New Moon is still not done.

Hi BritDee,
Yes, I would really tend to wonder whether it would be at all possible to be finished with the film already..who knows? It does seem extremely quick, I worry that everything is being completed “quick quick,” but, I do trust in the professionals, that the movies will be completed appropriately.
I have “seen” a lot of Rob out and about, preliminary work with his future. Good for him! I look forward to seeing him in other films, I do admit that, it will be difficult to “politely and temporarily check Edward at the door” to completely see and understand Rob’s performances..Although, I did watch HP and it was close to impossibe to not see a lot of Edward in Rob..I hope that he has a beautiful and relaxing birthday! Hello, Everyone! so here’s the scoop. Rob is heading for Cannes, which opened yesterday. He will be promoting New Moon and – like I said before – there will be a sneak peek of the movie!
After Cannes, Rob will head to Italy for the filming of the Volturi segment of New Moon.
You heard it here first!
Cheers!

Hey BritDee,
That’s great to hear about Rob. What a great thing to do for his birthday (around it..)! To go to Cannes. Never been there. Maybe some day..It will be very interesting how they will be filming the Volturi scenes. The actors who have been cast for the Volturi, I think, are phenomenal. This trip kind of confirms our initial questions as to the reason for the “cast party..” Maybe they had it to close the shooting in Van.? Who knows..Anyway, thanks for the info. Laura

Hi, Laura. Yes, the shooting wrapped in Vancouver and most of the cast is done except for Rob, Kristen, Ashley and the Volturi on the street. The rest, such as Aro, I believe are done, as well. So there you have it.

Thanks for the news, BritDee. We’re rapidly approaching the phase of the production where it will seem like the movie is never going to come out. When you can’t acually “see” something being done, it seems so slow to you. From some of the comments I’ve seen from the different actors, it appears New Moon will be a MUCH better movie than Twilight was. Everyone seems to have liked the script much better this time and a few even commented on the fact that Summit didn’t hesitate to put the money in this one. What have you heard on all that?
Sandy
May 16, 2009 at 12:18 am
BritDee
Hi, Sandy. I haven’t heard any comments about the script in terms of its quality but I do know that Chris has had a hand in it and he is a star in that department. I also know for a fact that he has managed to elicit much better performances from some of the weaker cast. As well, Rob has been integrated into the movie – acting, not just standing there – as I had expected that he would given that he is the star power of the movie.
So, yes, there are positive comments all around about the movie. However, remember that New Moon is all about werewolves, not vampires, so in the end the content matter may have a different result.
I look forward to seeing the trailer and will give you a full update.
Best to all and happy weekend.
Cheers!

Hi BritDee,
Hope things are going well with you. I guess this should go under the “Rob” section, but, I wasn’t sure whether it was closed or not..
For a while now, I guess it has been safe to assume that Rob is somewhat uncomfortable with all of the attention. I continue to feel for him. I could be mistaken, but, was Twilight the first film post Harry Potter for him? I seem to think that there were a couple of movies in between? Point is, was Twilight the first movie for him to receive all of this reception?
I thought that since he would be in Cannes, things would be quiet for him. But, I think that since he has been there, I am seeing even more pictures, videos, and I think even a big bodyguard, than before. Would you have any idea as to really how he is doing? Did he go to Cannes with anyone for support? I have pictured him as being absolutely swamped and alone, more than in the States..I do, though, see him, I think, enjoying himself..smiling even..What do you think? Laura

Hi, Laura. I’ve been having a lot of problems with my internet connection due to the earthquakes, so frustrating! so I haven’t posted anything. I have more important items that I need the internet for at the moment. Sorry about that!
It is a HUGE honor to be invited to Cannes. Rob is the only one out of the cast who is there, I believe. And you have seen him pictured with his British agent. Yes, it’s tough to be swamped but I hope he is looking at it as the most important moment for an actor since Leonardo DiCaprio 12 years ago. Rob is really smart so I’m sure he sees it that way.
I think it’s really amazing AMAZING that he is so incredibly popular. Afforded Beatles status, if you will. For the next five years, and more if he chooses the right projects, he will be able to do ANYTHING.
I think that’s quite an honor and unfortunately he will have to balance that with the mob scenes.
Rob has done about six movies in addition to Twilight. But Harry Potter was the biggest one.
Thanks for all your good input and for your concern over Rob. One day I hope we can express that to him…
Cheers!

Hi BritDee,
Ooh, I so hope that you and your friends are alright with the earthquakes..I had vaguely heard of their existance, but I didn’t know they were causing glitches with the Internet..I hope that all of your files etc. are safe. That is quite alright, anytime you have a free moment to come online is fine with me..I really do understand of what takes presedence.
I would think that going to Cannes is something that is extra special..funny as it sounds, Rob does appear to be dressing very nicely, and for that, I’m sure that he grasps that specialness to it all. To be the one who was chosen to go for New Moon, and I think I read that he went for other ” business-related reasons” as well. Perhaps to locate..buyers..or backers..or something of that nature..
I thought that he had some other films under his belt, but, I wasn’t sure whether this was the first time that all of the whoopla has occurred for him, and whether Cannes would be too much. BUT, as I agree, he is one smart cookie with a strong level-headness to him. (And I’m sure that having his agent there with him helps as well!)
Sure..I also hope that one day we would be able to speak with him regarding our..concern over how he is doing..
Be carefull and if I can somehow do anything to help..Laura

The hollywood media is absolutely going WILD with Rob in Cannes. He is absolutely the hottest actor of the decade. There are no words to describe the media frenzy that is taking place. I don’t remember if Leo had the same experience back in 1998. I was in London, working with another big artist so I don’t exactly recall.
But it is truly amazing. I hope he is enjoying the ride…
Cheers!

PS Laura, you are so wonderful. Thank you for your concern. I haven’t even felt the earthquakes.

Hi BritDee. I hadn’t heard anything about the earthquakes. I hope everything is okay. Believe it or not, the idea of being caught in an earthquake terrifies me. I’d rather face one of our Oklahoma Tornadoes any day of the week than an earthquake. At least you can hide from a tornado. There is no escaping an earthquake.
There was a piece on Entertainment Tonight last night on Rob being in Cannes. He was posing by the water. That place must be amazingly beautiful! He seems more prepared this time around than he did before. It’s obvious they all knew what to expect this time. I can’t believe we still have 6 months to wait for New Moon to come out. Time is dragging by!!!!

Hi, Sandy. Earthquakes don’t really scare me, I’ve been through several big ones. But I hope we are spared for now.
Make sure you watch MTV Awards (and I hope you voted for Rob as best breakthrough artist) where Rob will introduce a New Moon trailer. Should be really awesome!
Also, you all may have seen the poster which was released when Rob arrived in Cannes. As we all may have guessed, Rob is showcased in the front because he is the most unquestionable star of the decade. Without him, Summit could not have made the entire Twilight saga.
Any thoughts on the poster?
Thanks for your comments!

Hi Everyone,
Well, now I’ve seen everything..Rob is by far THE star of the decade as BritDee has mentioned. Now, let me make sure I get all of this correct: Rob has been auctioned off for $40,000. That is to say, for an AIDS charity event, two individuals paid $20,000 each for a kiss on the cheek, perhaps an autograph and I think something else, maybe a “hello” or something basic like that. During the auction, Rob looked amused yet somewhat nervous, wouldn’t anyone? That’s so beautifull that it was for a good cause..Laura

Every day, Rob becomes larger than life. He needs to get away from the Saga cast so he can hang with the upper crust, like Brad Pitt etc. That’s where he belongs!

Hi Everyone!
I need to correct my last note- it wasn’t $40,000 ($20,000/$20,000), it actually was 20,000 pounds each..I would think that is still a lot of money(?)..So larger than life! Laura

Hi BrtDee,
As I continue to gather my thougths on the Awards, I have a question for you. Aren’t all trailers considered to be spoilers? I think they are because they have scenes, whether they land in the finished product or not, that spoil the finished product for the viewer. Someone told me that they aren’t because the viewer would need to press play in order to view the trailer. I thought that was somewhat inaccurate especially since many times that website, which has posted the trailer, many has synopsis’ of the trailer to draw the viewer in even more..What do you think? Laura
June 2, 2009 at 12:38 am
BritDee
Hi, Laura. Not sure that a trailer would be a spoiler but it depends on what a viewer doesn’t want to see. A spoiler would be like in The Sixth Sense if they gave away that the Bruce Willis character was actually dead. It wasn’t a spoiler to reveal that the boy could see dead people.
New Moon has to reveal what the wolves look like, that would not be a spoiler for me. It might be for you. But it would be a spoiler for me how Edward is shown when Bella seeks danger.
Since most of the audience that will see NM has read the book, there’s not a lot to “spoil” except for some of the special effects, the choices the director makes in creating Bella’s anguish over Edward’s leaving and the acting of Rob.
Think of it as the copy on the jacket of a book. The trailer should say/show a short synopsis. The Twilight trailer was really good in depicting the allure and mystery of Rob without giving away his many layers.
I hope that answers your question! If not, what else can I explain?

2laura2
Hi BritDee,
Thanks for the info. on spoilers. Funny as it sounds, I never heard of it put that way. True. A spoiler is supposed to be a coming attraction, if you will, of an upcoming movie. I also never thought of the jacket of a book as being a spoiler, even though it is a synopsis. Funny thing is again, I rarely read them also! (I usually go by the picture, or the title of the book..) Typically, it does come from a book. To me, even though I really look forward to the movie, I prefer not to see any of the coming attractions, for fear of any deviations from the book. This, in addition to the special effects, and also Rob’s acting in the various scenarios. So, I just think that subtle warnings should be made before any type of “spoiler/trailer/coming attraction,” so that for those who wish to stay clear, to keep the excitement growing, may do so..and I continue to do so.(!) Thanks again! Laura

I haven’t responded to any of your blogs for the most part because, I, for the most part, prefer to blog with the others, because I find your style of blogging to be very insulting. I quite frankly, in the beginning, hadn’t quite understood why you would completely turn around what I simply said into something that it blatantly was not. I have never felt the need to bring this to anyone’s attention, until now. I enjoy chatting with all of my Twilight friends very much, but when someone says, and has been saying things which are not appropriate, I need to speak on the other side.
This isn’t a place to dish about anyone from MTV. Sure, when we are frustrated about something, we like to talk about it. We don’t dish and speak badly about something or someone. Yes, we all know that it isn’t the Oscars, but it does in fact acknowledge Twilight and its actors. Nor is the other area the place to trash MTV. They were simply stating the fact that they don’t feel the same need as many to think some of the jokes from MTV as such. And they certainly haven’t been living under a rock, they are mature, and intelligent adults.
Why would you put down Twilight and all of the “awards” they won, as a joke? What would you think they would say? Although I’m sure that the actors from Twilight may or may not think of these awards as the Oscars, but they would probably not think of any award they have received as a joke. So anyone who was excited to watch MTV should have their head examined? Then every single person who watched it, would take that as the wrong thing to say.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with the Standards which have been set for the actors of Los Angeles. And it is certainly not the town of la, la.
I think that if you are to continue to be involved wth these chats, you need to be aware of what you are saying, specifically, not putting down anyone, not categorizing them, nor calling them anything, as adults, it should be known what is right and what is wrong. Laura

Hi BS and Sandy,
I was actually at the mall to exchange a Coach bag I had purchased and I was walking by and there it was. To me it looks the same as on the net, and I was hoping it was not the final.
The hot topic and a place called Spencers (not sure if they are all over ) in the mall I was at had New Moon things already. Hot Topic had this HUGE blanket with Edward’s face on it. It made me giggle just a little.
I don’t really get into buying all that stuff but I like to look at it.

Hi Mygirl and BS! I know what you mean about buying all of that stuff. I like buying the posters, but I’ve always enjoyed posters. My daughter and her kids are into posters, also, so when I die, they’ll go to someone who cares. I thought the MTV Awards Show was funny for the most part. Some things were a little more “crude” than I like, i.e., the guy with the wings and his stunt. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the Twilight gang get their awards. I still crack up every time I think of Kristin dropping her award. So “Bella”!

Hi, Everyone. Couple of things. I hope everyone’s enjoying their weekend.
The Poster: there will be many posters out there between now and November. The one you see on display is the “current” one but there will be others. It’s not the “final” one, it’s just one of them.
Second, and this is just a friendly and gentle reminder, I do not want any discussion whatsoever on this site about TMZ’s (or any other sleaze-bucket media) invasion of Rob’s privacy. I think it is inhuman what Rob has to go through right now and this site will not play any part of it.
I experienced first-hand the devastation of papz in the life and death of Princess Diana and I sincerely think that Rob is going through the same thing so please let’s respect his privacy and hope that he can navigate through the crap that others feel necessary to expose.
Thanks for understanding. We celebrate Rob’s talent here and advocate for his privacy, which every human being deserves to have.
Cheers!

Hi, Sandy. Quite all right – just wanted to make sure we don’t fall into that sort of thing here. I couldn’t control the gushing and stuff that goes on at chez amazon but I’d like to take the higher road here.
.
I’ve been thinking about starting a campaign against the papz and the sleazy media to defend Rob. Like I said, Diana’s death was a very sobering episode for those of us who worked with celebs.
I also am livid about the crap that gets printed in such rags as Life Style and such. It’s not fair to Rob because everyone reads that stuff and then thinks it’s true. With all the legions of fans (about a billion, I would say) reading things that are totally false, I feel that someone has to skewer those vultures. (I’m not a friend of the media in general
Thanks for traveling this road with me!
Cheers!
